Farm Bureau endorses LaMalfa for assembly re-election
» April 20, 2006 «
A farmer/legislator with a strong voting record to protect family farmers and ranchers, Doug LaMalfa, has won the California Farm Bureau Federation endorsement for re-election to the state Assembly. LaMalfa, R-Richvale, seeks a third term representing the 2nd Assembly District in Northern California.
LaMalfa represents seven counties-Colusa, Glenn, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter and Tehama-plus portions of Butte and Yolo counties. Those counties generate more than $2 billion in crop and commodity production each year.
"As a fourth-generation rice farmer, Doug LaMalfa brings a unique and important perspective to the state Assembly," California Farm Bureau President Doug Mosebar said. "His firsthand knowledge about the challenges of operating a family farm motivates his effective work in the Legislature."
LaMalfa posted a perfect voting record on the California Farm Bureau 2005 Family Farm Scorecard, which measured legislators' votes on issues that affect farms and ranches.
"In both word and deed, Doug has proven himself a champion of family farmers and ranchers," Mosebar said. "He has been a leader in efforts to improve the California business climate, enhance rural communities, develop new water supplies and make other upgrades to our public infrastructure."
The California Farm Bureau Federation works to protect family farms and ranches on behalf of more than 88,000 members throughout the state.
