Nicole Parra earns Farm Bureau endorsement for re-election
» August 31, 2006 «
An elected official who has effectively represented family farmers and ranchers in a key agricultural region, Assembly Member Nicole Parra, has won endorsement for re-election from the California Farm Bureau Federation. Parra, D-Hanford, seeks a third term representing the 30th Assembly District in the San Joaquin Valley.
"In representing one of the most productive farming regions in the world, Nicole Parra continues to stand up to protect family farmers and ranchers," California Farm Bureau President Doug Mosebar said. "She recognizes that a healthy business climate, reliable water supplies and other public infrastructure will be needed to keep family farming sustainable."
Parra's district includes all of Kings County and portions of Fresno, Kern and Tulare counties. The four counties generate nearly $14 billion in crop and commodity production each year.
She serves on the Assembly Agriculture and Water committees and chairs the Select Committee on Water, Infrastructure and the Economy.
"Assembly Member Parra showed her understanding of farmers and ranchers by refusing to vote to increase taxes on farm equipment and fuel," Mosebar said. "Nicole Parra is committed to fighting an increase in the tractor tax."
The California Farm Bureau Federation, the state's largest farm organization, works to protect family farms and ranches on behalf of more than 88,000 members.
