The California Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors has endorsed Sam Blakeslee, R-San Luis Obispo, for election in the 33rd Assembly District.

"Sam Blakeslee understands the importance of maintaining a healthy business climate," said California Farm Bureau President Bill Pauli. "He will continue the battle to create jobs, reduce government waste and fight new taxes."

Blakeslee, a businessman with a long record of public service, seeks to represent a district that includes San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County. The two counties produce agricultural crops and commodities worth nearly $1.4 billion annually.

"Sam knows that everyone benefits from strong, vibrant and profitable farms and ranches," Pauli said. "He understands the need to prevent burdensome regulation that hampers agricultural production and restricts innovation by farms, ranches and other small businesses.

"Farm Bureau is pleased to join Governor Schwarzenegger in endorsing Sam Blakeslee for Assembly," he said.

The California Farm Bureau Federation, the state's largest farm organization, will mobilize nearly 90,000 members statewide to influence the outcome of the November election.
