Farm Bureau endorses Fiona Ma for Assembly re-election
» September 27, 2010 «
An urban legislator with a strong interest in agriculture, Fiona Ma, has earned endorsement for re-election from the California Farm Bureau Federation. Ma, D-San Francisco, seeks her third term representing the 12th Assembly District, which includes part of San Francisco plus Daly City and other communities in northern San Mateo County.
As a member of the Assembly Agriculture Committee, Ma has toured many of California’s agricultural production areas to learn firsthand about the state’s farms and ranches.
“Fiona Ma understands the critical connection between farm and city,” California Farm Bureau President Paul Wenger said. “She knows that productive family farms and ranches lead to jobs in urban centers, as well as a source of affordable, nutritious food for residents throughout California.”
Wenger noted that Ma has taken an active interest in agricultural legislation, sponsoring bills to promote the purchase of California-grown products and to assure necessary services for farmers and ranchers.
“The Legislature needs more leaders like Fiona Ma, who take a big-picture view of our state and know that prosperity in rural California translates into prosperity in our cities and suburbs,” Wenger said. “We will all benefit from her continued contributions as a member of the Assembly.”
The California Farm Bureau Federation works to protect family farms and ranches on behalf of 81,000 members statewide and as part of a nationwide network of more than 6.2 million Farm Bureau members.
