REPORTABILITY: CFAITC Board of Directors and CAFB – President
DIRECT REPORTS: Administrative Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator
SALARY RANGE: $120,000 to $145,000 per year
ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION: The California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (CFAITC) is a non-profit educational foundation dedicated to providing free agricultural literacy materials, including curriculum and teacher resources for PreK-12 grade(s). Our mission is to increase awareness and understanding of agriculture among California's educators and students. Our vision is an appreciation of agriculture by all.
SUMMARY: Develops and directs agricultural education programs for teachers and students in California. Develops and implements projects and activities of the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. Responsible for program oversight, board relations, fundraising, budget, and management of staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Administers and directs activities of the Foundation.
Manages fundraising activities to achieve financial goals of the Foundation.
Develops and oversees the annual budget of the Foundation.
Oversees development of appropriate materials to be used by teachers and students.
Creates partnerships and develops relationships within the agriculture, education, and Farm Bureau communities.
Keeps Board members updated on Foundation activities and projects and is responsible for managing CFAITC Foundation board and annual meetings.
Serves as state contact for National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization, Participates in national programs and acts as liaison to other state AITC programs.
Exercises professional leadership by keeping abreast of current issues, trends, developments, technology and opportunities within field of responsibility.
Provides professional representation of the Foundation internally and externally.
Management and mentorship of staff by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Develops, coordinates, enforces systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
Ability to think strategically and creatively including strong problem solving and analytical skills.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, business management, education or related field.
- Prior experience working with a non-profit organization and board of directors.
- 5 years of experience in fundraising.
- Prior experience preparing annual budgets.
- Broad knowledge of California agriculture and California education system.
- Effective use of promotional and educational techniques.
- Minimum of three years of past supervisory experience required.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to develop and motivate others, resolve conflict, delegate effectively and lead change.
- Ability to travel, some evenings and overnights required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse workforce and audience.
