USDA Announces $1 Billion for Emergency Livestock Relief Program

Late last week, USDA announced it would provide up to $1 billion to livestock producers impacted by drought and wildfires experienced in 2023 and 2024. The money will be distributed through the Emergency Livestock Relief Program (ELRP), with payments intending to have already begun rolling out as of the end of May. To streamline the process, USDA is leaning on existing data from the Livestock Forage Disaster Program to calculate expected payments. Those who have an approved LFP application on file for either year should automatically receive any anticipated payments, but members are encouraged to click here for more information.
