Follow-Up MAHA Report Expected Next Week

Next week, the Make America Healthy Again Commission is expected to release a follow-up report to its initial findings published earlier this summer. The first report drew widespread criticism from the agricultural community for its portrayal of pesticide use, raising concerns about misleading messaging and lack of industry engagement.
In California—where pesticide regulation is already stricter than federal standards—many growers are aware of both the safety and necessity of chemical applications essential to modern farming. The initial report failed to seek meaningful input from the private sector, particularly from farmers, researchers and industry stakeholders. However, early indications suggest the upcoming report may take a more balanced approach. Following extensive meetings with agricultural representatives, the commission appears to have moderated its tone on pesticide use and acknowledged its role in sustainable food production. We’ll provide insight on the commission’s new report in next week’s newsletter. Staff contact: Matthew Viohl, mviohl@cfbf.com
