The California Department of Food and Agriculture, in partnership with the California Dairy Research Foundation, announced $34 million in funding for Dairy Plus Projects through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Advancing Markets for Producers Initiative.
The program supports advanced manure management practices that provide environmental benefits, including technologies such as “vermifiltration”, advanced solid-liquid separation assisted by flocculants or beads, and other mechanical or nonmechanical systems that separate manure solids from water.
Eligible applicants include previous awardees of the Alternative Manure Management Program, or AMMP, and Dairy Digester Research and Development Program, or DDRDP, as well as dairy producers who have implemented or are currently implementing approved AMMP or DDRDP practices using private or alternative funding sources.
Applications are due by Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. PDT. Additional information, including eligibility requirements, application materials, approved practices and previously awarded projects are available here.
