USDA Shares More Reorganization Plans
Published Friday, June 19, 2026
The U.S. Department of Agriculture released additional details this week regarding its ongoing agency reorganization efforts. Under the latest plan, the Foreign Agricultural Service will relocate to Kansas City, Missouri, while most Rural Development employees will move to regional hubs in St. Louis and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Additional reorganization plans affecting the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Risk Management Agency are expected but have not yet been announced.
The Trump administration has said the goal of the reorganization is to move more USDA operations closer to the communities they serve. However, California Farm Bureau and other agricultural organizations have raised concerns about how hub locations were selected and the potential loss of institutional knowledge if experienced employees choose not to relocate.
