California Farm Bureau Submits Comments on Travel Management Rule
Published Friday, September 25, 2026
California Farm Bureau submitted comments supporting the U.S. Forest Service’s proposal to modernize its Travel Management Rule and improve access to National Forest System lands. Our comments emphasized the need to balance expanded access with wildfire response, road and trail maintenance capacity, and reliable access for agricultural uses such as grazing and forestry. The comments also highlight the importance of addressing conflicts between motorized recreation and livestock operations and allowing the Modoc National Forest to complete its pending travel-management plan. Farm Bureau supports greater local decision making, provided agricultural operators have meaningful opportunities to participate and decisions are adequately staffed and based on clear standards.
