As the State’s trustee agency for fish and wildlife resources, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife serves as the lead agency charged with helping to resolve human-wildlife conflict, public safety, and depredation. California is home to the most natural diversity of any state with a human population expected to grow to 50 million by 2050. Most human-wildlife interactions do not escalate to conflict.
